b. ?1704, 1st s. of Rev. Roger Smith of Bosworth, Leics. by his w. Judith Tomlinson.  educ. Melton Mowbray; Rugby 1714; Magdalene, Camb. 18 Apr. 1722, aged 17.  m. Margaret, da. of Edward Horsman of Stretton, Rutland, 1s. d.v.p.  suc. kinsman Sir Edward Smith, 2nd Bt., at Edmondthorpe 1721; and fa. 1736.

Offices Held


Smith was returned unopposed for Leicestershire in 1754 and 1761. He was classed as a Tory, both by Dupplin in 1754 and by Bute in 1761. No speech or vote by him is known after 1754.  He died 15 Feb. 1762.
