Temple 1770. m. 19 Oct. 1777, Hon. Lucy Courtenay (d. Dec. 1786), da. of William, 1st Visct. Courtenay, 2da.; (2) 20 May 1794, Lady Maria Grey, da. of George, 5th Earl of Stamford, 2s. 5da. suc. fa. 1775.

Offices Held


In 1782 and 1784 Cotes was returned unopposed on the Portland interest at Wigan. He voted with Opposition till Portland went over to Pitt in 1794. There is no record of his having spoken in the House before 1790.

He died 24 Aug. 1821.
