Magdalen, Oxf. 31 July 1671, aged 16, fellow 1676-82. m. Catherine, da. of Hon. Henry Bertie, M.P., of Weston-on-the-Green, Oxon. suc. fa. at North Weston 1667.
Clerke, whose family had been at North Weston since the sixteenth century, was returned unopposed for the county as a Tory in February 1715. He died three months later, 2 May, leaving his estate encumbered with £6,000 debts.1
