Winchester 1733; Queen’s, Oxf. 1735. m. 21 May 1738, Mary, da. of William Forester of Dothill Park, Salop, 2s. suc. fa. 12 Sept. 1724, and maternal gd.-fa. Sir Thomas Delves, 4th Bt., of Doddington, Cheshire 1727, and assumed add. name of Delves.

In November 1740 Broughton was nominated without his consent for Newcastle-under-Lyme and was defeated.1 Returned next year for Wenlock on his father-in-law’s interest, his only recorded vote was for the Government on the chairman of the elections committee in December 1741. In the Cockpit list of 1742 he was allocated to H. A. Herbert. He died 11 Aug. 1744.
