Biography
Despite the standing and well-documented multiplicity of the Hungerford family, the ‘Edmund Hungerford gent. of Marlborough’, who was returned to the Parliament of 1586 remains unidentified. There was a person of this name living in Chelsea who may have moved to Marlborough and become the MP. His father, a gentleman pensioner since the reign of Henry VIII, accompanied that sovereign to Boulogne and was present at the battle of Pinkie. The Edmund Hungerford who married Isabella Wilkes is said to have died in 1614.
