Biography
Hake was one of the original feoffees of the Peterborough city lands from 1572 until his death. He owned property there, and also leased the site of a water-mill from the dean and chapter, who were lords of the city. As a freeholder, he owed suit at the court leet, and was frequently amerced for non-appearance. He made his will on 23 Feb. 1590, and on 2 Mar., his body was ‘sumptuously brought with mourners into the parish church of Peterborough, and thence conveyed to Whittlesey’ and interred at the chancel door, near his father.
