Biography
William’s putative father had twice represented Horsham in Parliament in the 1380s. He himself regularly witnessed deeds in the town from 1395 to 1425. In the meantime he had been called upon to serve as a juror at Horsham for the inquests post mortem on Sir Thomas Brewes* (in 1395) and Reynold, Lord Cobham of Sterborough (1403), and from September 1422 he had acted as a trustee of the local property of William atte Wode.1
