b. 4 May 1726, 1st surv. s. of Rev. Maurice Suckling, preb. of Westminster Abbey, by Anne, da. of Sir Charles Turner, 1st Bt., of Warham, Norf. and niece of Sir Robert Walpole.  m. 19 June 1764, his cos. Hon. Mary Walpole, da. of Horatio, 1st Baron Walpole, s.p.

Lt. R.N. 1745; cdr. 1754; capt. 1755; comptroller of the navy 1775-8.


Suckling—uncle and early patron of Nelson—was returned unopposed at Portsmouth, presumably with Admiralty support. There is no record of his having voted or spoken.  He died 14 July 1778.
