Biography

Stephenson, a London banker, apparently began his career with Martins of Lombard Street, and by 1766 was a partner in the firm of Batson, Stephenson, and Hoggart, with which he was associated till his death. In 1786 he stood at Carlisle in opposition to Sir James Lowther. He was defeated at the poll but returned on petition. His only recorded votes were with the Opposition over the Regency, 1788-9, and he is not reported to have spoken in the House. He did not stand in 1790.

He died 30 Sept. 1807.
