b. 23 Feb. 1701, o.s. of Arthur Tremayne of Sydenham by Grace, da. of Sir Halswell Tynte, 1st Bt., M.P., of Halswell, Som. educ. Westminster 1715; Trinity, Camb. 1721. m. Dorothy Hammond of Wiltshire, 1s. suc. fa. at Sydenham 1709 and gt.-gd.-fa. at Collacombe 1709.
Sheriff, Devon 1739-40.
Of an ancient royalist Cornish family, Tremayne inherited a very large fortune from his great-grandfather.1 A Tory and a friend of the Morices of Werrington, who probably returned him at Launceston, he voted against the Government in every recorded division. He did not stand again, and died at an advanced age in 1796.
