Biography

Pilkington, a member of the 1st Lord Egmont’s musical circle,1 took a leading part on the government side in the Yorkshire election of 1734, later contributing £50 towards a scrutiny.2 Returned for Horsham as a government supporter by his neighbour and friend, the 7th Viscount Irwin, he was one of the sponsors of the Leeds turnpike bill in 1751.3

He died 11 Aug. 1778.
