Biography

Charles Boone was brother of Thomas Boone of Lee Place, Kent, an estate which had been bought by his great-uncle Christopher Boone, a wealthy merchant, who had been appointed a commissioner of the East India Company in 1660.3 He joined the Company’s service before 1710, when he was at Fort St. George, returning to England after his governorship. Elected unopposed for Ludgershall at the 1727 election, he voted against the Administration on the civil list arrears in 1729 and the Hessians in 1730, absenting himself from the other recorded divisions of that Parliament. Succeeded at Ludgershall by his eldest son Daniel in 1734, he died 8 Oct. 1735.
