Biography
Vaughan’s brother Walter was mayor of Carmarthen at the time of this election. As a nominee of the Earl of Essex had been returned for Carmarthen Boroughs at the previous election, and Walter Vaughan was a follower of the Earl, it is likely that Henry Vaughan gained his seat with the approval of Essex. He was appointed to the maltsters bill committee, 12 Jan. 1598, and as Member for a Welsh constituency he could have served on the Newport bridge committee 29 Nov. 1597.2
