Biography

Little has been ascertained about this man or his family. He was one of the chief burgesses of New Radnor named in the charter of 1562, and five years later he took over from Robert Blike (presumably one of his wife’s family) a lease of the crown property of Radnor park for 21 years. It was described as unfenced, with no deer and only small shrubs, hazels and briars, ‘much after the fashion of a mountain land of that country’. Price presumably died about 1580, when a new lease was made out to his son John. Although Morgan Price’s wife is described by Dwnn as ‘sole heiress’ to her father, she is not in the Blike pedigree in the Shropshire visitation of 1623.
