Biography

Little has been discovered about Franke, who was no doubt returned for Horsham through the local standing of his wife’s family. His eldest brother John, in a will dated July 1561, left him the remainder, after his own wife, of a messuage in Hastings, lands in Crowhurst and some land ‘within the liberty of Hastings beside the castle’. Franke’s own will was proved in the archdeaconry court at Lewes on 10 June 1606.
