Biography

When, as a recognitor at the assizes held at East Grinstead in the spring of 1392, Chode withdrew with his fellows to reach a verdict in a suit over property at Horsham, they broke the law by looking at fresh evidence shown them by one of the parties in the affair. As a consequence, they were discharged, put in prison by the sheriff and each fined 3s.4d. to secure release.
