About the subject

MP for Cricklade 1701-2, 1705-13, Boroughbridge 1713-15, Wallingford 1715-19. Wit, ladies’ man and inveterate gambler, Dunch was a whig in politics and regarded as a reliable ally by the duke and duchess of Marlborough, and was given the post of Master of the Household in 1708, though he lost it with the dismissal of the duke of Marlborough in 1712.
